Samba, July 3: In a humanitarian gesture, Samba Police successfully reunited a mentally challenged woman from Himachal Pradesh with her family after tracing her identity through sustained efforts and timely police action. On June 30, 2026, a woman was found wandering near the Border Police Post (BPP) Dug under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramgarh. During the preliminary enquiry, it was observed that she was mentally challenged and unable to disclose her identity, address or any details about her family. Recognizing the need for immediate care and assistance, the police took the woman into safe custody and launched a meticulous effort to ascertain her identity. During the search of her belongings, police recovered some clothes, personal belongings and a keypad mobile phone. The contact numbers stored in the mobile phone were carefully verified and after persistent efforts, the police successfully established her identity as Chuhari Devi W/o Kapil Kumar R/o Biunal tehsil Karsog district Mandi (Himachal Pradesh). Following the identification, Samba Police promptly contacted her family members through the available phone numbers and informed them about her safe recovery. After completing the due verification process and all necessary legal formalities, Chuhari Devi was safely reunited with her husband today at Police Station Ramgarh. The family members expressed heartfelt gratitude to Samba Police for their dedicated efforts and humane approach in tracing and reuniting their missing family member. |
