SHIMLA, Aug 1: A yellow alert of heavy rainfall was issued on Saturday for isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh till August 7, according to the Shimla meteorological centre.
A total of 102 roads were closed for vehicular traffic in the state following landslides and flash floods triggered by rains. Additionally, 28 water supply schemes and 11 transformers were disrupted as of Saturday evening, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
A maximum of 43 roads were blocked in Mandi, followed by 33 in Kullu, 11 in Shimla, five each in Chamba and Kangra, four in Sirmaur and one in Una district.
Light to moderate rains lashed parts of the state, and Pandoh received 45 mm of rain in the past 24 hours since Friday evening, followed by Shimla (36.3 mm), Sarahan (35.3), Slapper (31.6 mm), Jot (30.8 mm), Dharamshala (26.3 mm) and Kufri 25.5 mm.
Thunderstorms and lightning were witnessed in Sundernagar and Murarai Devi. Bharmaur in Chamba was coldest at night with a low of 10 degrees Celsius, while Una was the hottest during the day with a high of 32.6 degrees Celsius. |
