| No resite for drug peddlers: Reasi police invokes PIT-NDPS Act against habitual offender | | | Early Times Report REASI, Aug 1: Reaffirming its firm commitment to eradicate the drug menace and adopting a zero-tolerance approach against drug peddlers and suppliers, Reasi Police has invoked the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act against a habitual drug offender, namely Prakash singh s/o Mohan singh R/o Thilloo Tehsil Thuroo district Reasi A/P Katal Gran Morh, Reasi The accused has been repeatedly involved in drug-related offences, and despite preventive measures taken against him in the past, he continued to engage in illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs. According to the official record he remained involved in multiple criminal cases registered at police station reasi under the provision of NDPS Act specifically in FIR NO. 110/2026 and FIR NO. 126/2026 Considering his continued involvement in drug trafficking and to prevent him from indulging in further illegal activities, a detention order no.56 of 2026 dated 30.07.2026 issued by Divisional Commissioner Jammu under the PIT-NDPS Act was executed and the accused has been lodged in District Jail Poonch. Reasi Police remains steadfast in its resolve to eliminate the drug menace and will continue taking stringent legal action against those involved in narcotics trafficking to ensure a safe and drug-free society. |
