Early Times Report

Meerut, Aug 8: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath showered flowers of devotion on the devotees of Bholenath on the Dashami Tithi of the holy month of Shravan. Along with Gorakshpeethadhishwar, Meerut MP Arun Govil, who played the role of Lord Ram in the Ramayana television serial, and all other public representatives showered rose petals on Shiva devotee Kanwar pilgrims, honoring their faith. Flowers were also showered from a helicopter on Shiva devotees all along the Kanwar route.
On this occasion, the entire western Uttar Pradesh reverberated with the Kanwar pilgrims’ chants of ‘Har-Har, Bam-Bam’. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the Kanwar Yatra as an unparalleled example of devotion, dedication, social and national unity and harmony. On behalf of the state government, he welcomed and felicitated all Shiva devotee Kanwar pilgrims.
Before reaching the venue, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath surveyed the Kanwar Yatra by helicopter. He paid obeisance to the devotion of the devotees of Bholenath who had arrived from different parts of the state and directed administrative officers to ensure proper arrangements for regular security, respect, and facilities for Kanwar pilgrims.
The entire western Uttar Pradesh reverberated with the chants of Har-Har Bam-Bam by Kanwar pilgrims who had set out carrying holy Ganga water to perform Jalabhishek at Shiva temples. By showering flowers on the devotees of Bholenath, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conveyed that this is a government that respects faith.
In the tableau taken out during the Kanwar Yatra, ‘Baba’s ganas’ were seen immersed in the joy of Bholenath in different forms. While some were swaying in the procession of Lord Bholenath, others, dressed as Kartikeya and Ganesha, were expressing their devotion to the family of Lord Shiva. Baba’s ganas were also seen riding on the chariot in the forms of ghosts and spirits.
Devotees danced enthusiastically to various songs of Bholenath, including Bam Bhole-Bam Bhole and Bam-Bam-Bam. Songs such as Jo Ram Ko Laye Hain, Hum Unko Layenge, Duniya Mein Phir Se Hum Bhagwa Lahrayenge also filled the entire atmosphere with saffron fervor. All the devotees and common people present here were also seen capturing this moment of faith, enthusiasm and excitement on their mobile phones.
Speaking to journalists, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “The sacred Kanwar Yatra during the month of Shravan is moving towards its peak. Shiva devotee Kanwar pilgrims are rapidly proceeding from Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, carrying Ganga water to perform Jalabhishek at the sacred Shiva temples. Lakhs of Shiva devotees have joined this campaign. It is hoped that four to four-and-a-half crore Shiva devotees between Ghaziabad and Haridwar will join this Kanwar Yatra with Ganga water and perform Jalabhishek at sacred Shiva temples by the Shivratri of Shravan.”
The Chief Minister informed, “A huge crowd of devotees has also gathered at Shiv Chowk in Muzaffarnagar. In Meerut, I have had the opportunity to shower flowers on Kanwar pilgrims along with public representatives. Along with Baba Augharnath Temple in Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh, Baba Dudheshwar Nath Temple in Ghaziabad and Pura Mahadev Temple in Baghpat, lakhs of Shiva devotees from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have also become part of the Kanwar Yatra with devotion and enthusiasm.”
