As the nation gears up for its 80th Independence Day, massive Tiranga Rallies are being organized across Jammu and Kashmir as a part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
These rallies are seeing participation of hundreds of students, local youth, and government officials, who aim to instil a sense of patriotism and mark the celebrations of the national festival.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign encourages citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes and develop a personal connection with the Tricolour. The campaign also seeks to honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters and strengthen the spirit of patriotism among citizens.
This year’s celebrations have a special focus on the commemoration of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’. Various activities are being organised across districts, blocks and panchayats as part of the campaign.
Jammu and Kashmir offers a particularly important setting for such an initiative. Over the years, the Tricolour has come to symbolise peace, national integration, democratic participation and the aspirations of a new generation. Tiranga Rallies in towns, villages, educational institutions and establishments demonstrate that national identity can be celebrated through participation, rather than merely through speeches and ceremonies.
The Tricolour represents the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. Respecting the flag therefore also means respecting these values in everyday life.
