Early Times Report POONCH, Aug 10: The Indian Army organised an "Awareness Talk on Drug Abuse" at Kulali, Poonch, on 09 August 2026, with the aim of educating the local populace, particularly the youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraging a healthy, disciplined and drug-free lifestyle. During the session, participants were sensitised about the adverse impact of drugs on physical and mental health, including damage to vital organs, stress, depression and impaired decision-making. The speakers also highlighted the wider social consequences of drug addiction, such as rising crime, family disruption and its negative impact on social progress. Special emphasis was laid on the long-term risks posed to the younger generation and the importance of timely intervention, awareness and community support. The programme encouraged residents, local institutions and youth groups to collectively counter the menace of drug abuse. The participants attended the session and expressed their commitment to spreading awareness and contributing towards building a safer, healthier and drug-free society. |
