Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 10: The Worthy Director Horticulture Jammu, Jenab Gul Syed, visited Bhalwal Zone along with the Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu, Sh. R.K. Kotwal, and other officers/officials of the Horticulture Department. During the visit, the Director visited two spots at Village Kangar and Thatar, where he interacted with farmers and took feedback regarding the implementation of various horticulture development schemes. He enquired about the issues and requirements of the farming community and assured the farmers of all possible departmental support. The Director also inspected various horticulture plantations and developmental activities being carried out under different departmental schemes, including JKCIP, normal-spacing plantations and other departmental programmes. He reviewed the progress of the schemes on the ground and emphasized the need for timely and effective implementation so that maximum benefits reach the farming community. The Director further visited a Dragon Fruit Orchard at Raipur, where he inspected the plantation and interacted with the concerned farmer regarding the cultivation practices, production, field-level challenges and scope for promoting dragon fruit cultivation in the area. The Director appreciated the efforts of the field staff and stressed upon the officers to maintain close coordination with farmers, provide necessary technical guidance and encourage the adoption of modern and high-value horticulture practices for improving productivity, diversification and farmers' income. |
