JAMMU, Aug 10: A Farmers Field School was organized at Panchayat Kheri-B, Zone Channi Himmat, which was presided over by Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), R.S. Pura, Arun Jaral.
During the programme, SDAO Arun Jaral elaborately explained the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques in Paddy and sensitized farmers about various measures for the prevention and management of pests and diseases affecting the crop. He emphasized the importance of timely identification and adoption of scientific methods for maintaining healthy paddy crops.
SDAO Arun Jaral strongly advocated the adoption of organic farming practices in the prevailing scenario, stressing that excessive and indiscriminate use of chemicals can adversely affect soil fertility and the overall agricultural ecosystem. He highlighted the importance of improving soil health and conserving beneficial insects essential for maintaining ecological balance and sustainable agricultural production.
Ex-Sarpanch Vijay Saini appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department and encouraged farmers to adopt organic and sustainable farming practices for better soil health and long-term agricultural sustainability.
Panchayat officials Manjeet Kour, Shivani Jamwal, Harbhajan Singh and Satvir Singh, along with Navneet Kour, were also present during the event. |
