QR code facility of study materials launches at central library, SKUAST-Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 10: The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu), Prof. B. N. Tripathi, today visited the Central Library, Chatha, and inaugurated the newly introduced QR Code-based Library Service Facility, aimed at providing quick, convenient, and technology-enabled access to important library services and information resources for students, research scholars, faculty members, and other users.
The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor was received by the University Librarian, Dr. R.K. Samnotra, along with Sr. Library Assistants viz. Dr. Asha Rani, Dr. Amit Sharma & Dr. Meenakshi Devi. During the visit, the University Librarian briefed the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor about the objectives and functioning of the QR Code facility and its potential to enhance accessibility, convenience, and user engagement with the Library.
The QR Code facility has been introduced as an innovative initiative to provide users with instant access to selected library services, information resources, important links, announcements, digital resources, feedback mechanisms, and other user-oriented facilities through their smartphones. The initiative is aimed at making library services more accessible and responsive to the changing information needs of the University community.
The Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the facility by scanning the QR Code and reviewed its functioning. He appreciated the initiative of the Central Library towards adopting digital technologies and innovative practices for improving the delivery of library services. He emphasized the importance of leveraging emerging technologies to make library resources and services more user-friendly, accessible, and efficient.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the University Librarian and the entire Library Team for taking proactive steps towards digital transformation and modernization of Library services. He encouraged the team to further explore the use of QR codes, mobile-based services, digital platforms, and emerging technologies to strengthen access to scholarly information and improve the overall user experience.
