Selfless Service
8/17/2026 10:08:51 PM
KP volunteers have played a significant role since April 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when a single bag of rice donated by the Jammu Ashram of Swami Nand Bab Sahib sowed the seed of a selfless service revolution.
During the past 6 years the organization has grown into a trusted platform for humanitarian service across Jammu Kashmir. Selfless service of the volunteers towards the society and the needy has upheld the values of compassion, duty and humanity.
The contribution of volunteers during difficult times such as natural disasters, health emergencies, economic hardships and other crises has been acknowledged by every section of the society.
Volunteers on many occasions have become a bridge between those who can help and those who urgently need assistance. Their presence provides not only material support but also emotional reassurance to people facing adversity.
The most admirable aspect of this service is its selfless character. In an age when public life is increasingly dominated by individual interests, the willingness of ordinary citizens to devote their time, resources and energy to helping strangers is a powerful reminder that humanity remains one of society’s greatest strengths.
The six-year journey also demonstrates that humanitarian service need not always begin with large resources or elaborate institutions.
Sometimes, it begins with a simple act of generosity. That single bag of rice in 2020 carried a message far greater than its material value: that no person should be left alone in times of distress.
KP volunteers deserve appreciation for keeping that spirit alive and transforming it into an organised and dependable service network. Their work also offers an important lesson for younger generations—that citizenship is not limited to claiming rights; it also involves fulfilling one’s responsibilities towards fellow human beings.
As the organisation enters another phase of its journey, its greatest strength will remain the trust it has earned among people. That trust must be preserved through transparency, inclusiveness and continued commitment to serving the genuinely needy.
The story of KP volunteers is ultimately a story of ordinary people choosing to do extraordinary things. From one bag of rice during the pandemic to six years of sustained humanitarian service, the journey proves that compassion, when combined with collective effort, can become a powerful force for social good. In a world often divided by differences, such selfless service reminds us of a universal truth: humanity is best served when we serve one another.
