| Two booked in Mendhar over alleged sexual assault of minor girl | | | Early Times Report POONCH, Sept 10: Police have registered a case against two persons following an allegation that a Class 7 student was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted in the Mendhar area of Poonch district. According to police, cognizance of the matter has been taken and an investigation has been initiated under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. People from the area have urged the authorities to take strict action against those found responsible for the alleged incident. They also appealed to the police to complete the investigation at the earliest and ensure that the accused are dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. Residents further called for stronger measures to protect children from such incidents and stressed that there should be no place in society for anyone found guilty of crimes against minors. Police said that further legal action will be taken as per law. Details regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident are awaited, as the investigation is currently underway.
