Jammu, Sept 10: Jammu Police on Thursday apprehended two suspected drug peddlers and recovered around 250–260 grams of a heroin-like narcotic substance during naka checking at Dhaleri in the jurisdiction of Police Station Khour.
According to police, a team from Police Station Khour was conducting naka checking at Dhaleri when it intercepted a car bearing registration number JK02BD-0771 for checking. The driver allegedly attempted to flee, following which the police party chased and intercepted the vehicle at some distance.
During the subsequent search, police recovered approximately 250–260 grams of heroin-like substance from the possession of the two occupants.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rahul Dhar, son of Devi Dass, resident of Falatee, Tehsil and District Udhampur, and Dheeraj Sumbliya, son of Satish Kumar, resident of Garhi, Tehsil and District Udhampur.
Police said that FIR No. 75/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Khour and further investigation is underway.
The action was carried out as part of Jammu Police’s sustained crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and said that sustained enforcement and other measures would continue to curb the menace of drugs and make society drug-free. |
