JAMMU, Sept 19: Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women (PSPS GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, today hosted a vibrant and memorable Freshers' Party 2026 for the students of First Semester at the College Auditorium. Organised by the Student Council under the aegis of the Students Welfare Committee, the celebration revolved around the inspiring theme "Pages in the Making," symbolising the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the students' academic journey. The programme commenced with a formal welcome and the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The auditorium was aesthetically decorated with a vintage literary concept featuring books, pens, inkpots and elements reminiscent of cherished memories, perfectly complementing the theme and its evocative tagline, "Every Story Has a First Page."
Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of the College, formally welcomed the freshers and addressed the gathering. She congratulated the students on joining one of the prestigious institutions of Jammu and Kashmir and encouraged them to work hard, maintain discipline and participate actively in academic as well as co-curricular activities. She also appreciated the Student Council and the Students Welfare Committee for organising the event with warmth, creativity and commendable coordination. Dr. Rabia Javed, Convenor, Students Welfare Committee, introduced the freshers to the rich culture, values and traditions of the institution. She highlighted the Committee's role in ensuring students' welfare, guidance and holistic development and assured the newcomers of continued support throughout their college journey. She encouraged the students to embrace every opportunity and write their own story of success with dedication, confidence and perseverance.
