SAMBA, Sept 18: SPPND Government Degree College Samba celebrated Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm and literary fervour through a series of academic and literary activities organised by the Department of Hindi from 14th to 19th September, culminating in a vibrant Speech Competition on September 19.
The celebrations aimed to highlight the significance of Hindi as a language of expression, knowledge and cultural heritage, while providing students with meaningful platforms to showcase their creativity, literary abilities and communication skills.
The series commenced on 15th September with a Poem Competition, in which students participated enthusiastically and presented their poetic expressions with confidence and creativity. Ashish Kumar secured the first position, Vansh Sharma secured the second position, while Muqaddar Ali and Meenakshi Sarmal jointly secured the third position.
On 16th September, the Department organised Essay Writing and Slogan Writing Competitions. In the Essay Writing Competition, Shallu Dogra and Sonia Devi emerged as winners, while Pallavi Verma and Manisha Kumari secured the winning positions in the Slogan Writing Competition. The activities encouraged students to express their ideas on contemporary themes through the written word and creative slogans.
The series culminated on 19th September with a Speech Competition, which witnessed enthusiastic participation and confident presentations by students. Dishant secured the first position, Danish Bhagat stood second, while Bansh and Madhur Chadgal jointly secured the third position.
The concluding programme was graced by the presence of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nirlape Kour, who appreciated the efforts of the Department of Hindi and congratulated the participating students. In her address, she emphasised the importance of promoting Hindi and nurturing linguistic and literary expression among students. She encouraged the students to continue engaging with language and literature as an important part of their academic and cultural development.
The competitions were adjudicated by an esteemed jury comprising Dr. Renu Nanda and Dr. Balwan Singh, whose valuable academic insight and objective assessment contributed to the successful conduct of the events.
The entire series was organised under the guidance of Dr. Anupma Sharma, Head, Department of Hindi, with the dedicated support of Dr. Renu Sharma, Dr. Preeti Sharma, Dr. Shallu and Dr. Neelam Kumari. Dr. Renu Sharma proposed the vote of thanks at the concluding programme and expressed gratitude to the Principal, jury members, faculty, students and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the Hindi Diwas celebrations.
The concluding ceremony was also attended by senior faculty members, including Prof. Seema Sharma, Prof. Samriti Manchanda, Prof. Mala Bhasin, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. Joginder Singh and Dr. Ramandeep Kour, whose presence encouraged and motivated the participating students.
The six -days celebration successfully transformed Hindi Diwas into a broader celebration of language, literature, creativity and expression. The enthusiastic participation of students throughout the series reflected their growing interest in Hindi and its rich literary traditions. The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting Hindi as a vibrant medium of communication, creativity and cultural expression. |
