Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Oct 2: The 157th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji was celebrated at Pondicherry University Campus. Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice Chancellor paid homage to the Father of Nation and after offering floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhiji. On the occasion of the 157th Gandhi Jayanthi, the Vice-Chancellor called upon the University community to remember Mahatma Gandhi not merely as the Father of the Nation, but as a timeless source of guidance for building a just, peaceful and progressive India. Gandhiji showed that truth, non-violence, simplicity, discipline, self-reliance and service are not only ideals of the freedom struggle, but also essential values for the future of the nation. India's progress must be measured not only by technological advancement and economic growth, but also by the strength of its character, unity and compassion. The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that universities have a vital role in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders. Employees and teachers must lead by example through integrity, punctuality, transparency, courtesy and dedication to public service. Students, in turn, must pursue education with honesty, respect diversity, reject shortcuts such as plagiarism and resolve differences through dialogue rather than confrontation. In an age shaped by artificial intelligence, social media and rapid change, the Vice-Chancellor urged young people to combine knowledge with ethics and innovation with humanity. Technology can strengthen the nation only when it is used responsibly for the welfare of all. He encouraged everyone to keep the campus clean, conserve natural resources, help those in need and contribute positively to society. Let us carry Gandhiji's values into our workplaces, classrooms, homes and communities, so that truth guides our actions, non-violence guides our relationships and service guides our shared journey towards a stronger India. |
