Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 2: Amid continued suspense over the successor to Ashok Koul, BJP national general secretary (organisation) B.L. Santhosh is scheduled to visit Jammu on Saturday and is expected to interact with senior party leaders on organisational matters.
Santhosh will attend the official farewell function being organised for Koul, the outgoing general secretary (organisation) of the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh unit. During his visit, he is also likely to hold discussions with the local leadership on various issues concerning the party’s organisational structure and functioning.
Santhosh’s visit assumes significance as he is expected to play a key role in the process of selecting Koul’s successor. Koul has decided to step down after serving as the BJP’s general secretary (organisation) in the region for more than 14 years, from 2012 to 2026.
As national general secretary (organisation), Santhosh oversees the BJP’s organisational affairs at the national level. He succeeded Ram Lal, the party’s former national organisational secretary.
Meanwhile, the J&K BJP held an introductory meeting with its newly appointed Seh-Prabhari, Reena Kashyap, an MLA from Himachal Pradesh’s Pachhad Assembly constituency, at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
