Satish Sharma visits Chhamb, lays foundation stones for development projects, inaugurates works wroth Rs 13 Cr

JAMMU, Oct 2: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Youth Services & Sports, Science & Technology, Information Technology, ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma, today undertook an extensive visit of the Chhamb Assembly Constituency and participated in a series of foundation-laying and inauguration programmes for development works wroth 13Cr. aimed at improving road connectivity, administrative infrastructure and essential public services.
The Minister visited Akhnoor, Barui Sangani, Kandi, Balla, Maira-Sather and Payain, where he laid foundation stones for various projects and inaugurated completed works. He also interacted with local residents and took feedback on developmental issues concerning the respective areas.
At Akhnoor, Satish Sharma laid the foundation stone for construction of the Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Building. The new infrastructure is aimed at strengthening the field-level administrative setup of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department and facilitating better delivery of services to the public.
The Minister subsequently visited Bandi Mohalla, Barui Sangani, where he laid the foundation stone for construction of a road. The project is expected to improve local connectivity and provide easier access to the area.
At Kandi, Sharma laid the foundation stone for construction of the road from Middle School Kandi to Kandi East. He also laid the foundation stone for construction of a lane and culvert at Kandi, aimed at strengthening internal connectivity and facilitating smoother movement of residents.
At Mohalla Bachan Singh Balla, the Minister laid the foundation stone for construction of a link road, which will provide improved connectivity to the locality and adjoining areas.
At Maira-Sather, the Minister inaugurated the blacktopping of the Maira-Sather Road.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that quality road infrastructure is critical for socio-economic development and plays an important role in improving access to education, healthcare, markets and other essential services.
He directed the concerned executing agencies to ensure adherence to prescribed quality standards and timely completion of ongoing works.
At Payain Panchayat Balgara, the Minister laid the foundation stone for construction of a link road at Mohalla ST, aimed at improving connectivity for the local population.
He later inaugurated various PHE development works at Payain, aimed at strengthening water infrastructure and improving delivery of essential services to the people.
The Minister stressed that public utility projects should be executed with due regard to quality, sustainability and the requirements of the local population.
During the visit, Sharma interacted with local residents, public representatives and officers and received feedback regarding roads, water supply, civic amenities and other developmental issues.
He directed the concerned departments to maintain close coordination and regularly monitor the progress of works to ensure their timely completion and quality execution.
"Development works must translate into visible improvement in the lives of people. Every project undertaken with public funds should be completed within the stipulated timeframe and maintained properly so that people derive sustained benefits," the Minister said.
