Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 5: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Jammu & Kashmir Masters Games Association (JKMGA) was held with enthusiasm and a strong sense of purpose, bringing together senior sports leaders, officials and members to strengthen the sporting ecosystem across the Union Territory. The meeting was presided over by Ranjit Singh Chib, Retired SSP and President of JKMGA. A former captain of the Indian handball team and a prominent figure in the sporting fraternity, Chib in his address emphasised the wider role of sports in building discipline, dedication and determination among individuals and fostering a healthier and more united society. "Sports is not merely about winning medals-it is about discipline, dedication, and determination. I urge the people of Jammu & Kashmir to step forward with passion and commitment. Through sports, we can build stronger minds, healthier bodies, and a united society," he said. The AGM held detailed discussions on the planning, coordination and arrangements for the successful conduct of the 3rd Jammu & Kashmir Masters Games, scheduled to be held in Jammu from November 22 to 24, 2026. The prestigious event will feature competitions in more than 20 sporting disciplines, providing masters athletes an important platform to demonstrate their talent, fitness and competitive spirit. The meeting also discussed the selection and preparation of athletes who will represent Jammu & Kashmir at the 9th National Masters Games-2027, scheduled to be held in Jammu and Kashmir from April 6 to 9, 2027. The deliberations witnessed active participation from Ashok Kumar, Somraj Gupta, Deepak Handa, Surjeet Choudhary, Ajay Sharma, Amit Sangra, Amar Sharma, Pankaj Malhotra, Narinder Mahajan, Shikha Jain, Vishal Singh Chib, Ravinder Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Sarabjeet Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Kuljeet Singh, Sanjay Puri, Prabal Sharma, Rameshwar Singh Manhas, Rajesh Sumbria, Mamata Bajaj, Dayal Singh, Anil Abrol, Prithpal Singh and other members. The meeting concluded with the members resolving to work in close coordination with JKMGA officials and game conveners to ensure that the 3rd J&K Masters Games are conducted in a grand, professional and athlete-friendly manner. Neete Kour, Secretary General, JKMGA, thanked all game conveners and officials for their commitment and active participation. She said the collective efforts of the association under the leadership of President Ranjit Singh Chib would further strengthen the culture of masters sports and create more opportunities for athletes across Jammu & Kashmir. |
