Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 5: Dogra Law College (Autonomous), under the aegis of Dogra Educational Trust, in collaboration with Meridian Law Chambers, successfully hosted and concluded Th. Gulchain Singh Charak National Moot Court Competition 2026 on 3rd and 4th October 2026 at Dogra Educational Complex, Bari Brahmana. The two-day competition brought together law students from across India, providing them with a distinguished platform to demonstrate their skills in legal research, analysis, drafting, and oral advocacy. The competition was themed "Advocacy for Heritage, Justice for Posterity," with a focus on the significant and contemporary issue of heritage conservation. Following a rigorous Memorial Qualifying Round, 14 teams advanced to the oral rounds. The Semi-Final Rounds were adjudicated by Subhash Gupta, Retd. Session Judge; Adv. Anuja Pethia, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India; Varinder Singh Bhou, Retd. District and Sessions Judge; and Adv. Noor Shergil, Supreme Court of India. The final round was adjudicated by Justice Rahul Bharti and Justice Rajesh Sekhri, High Court of (J&K) and Ladakh. The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by: Tashi Rabstan, Former Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, remembered his association with late Th. Gulchain Singh Charak the Founder of Dogra Educational Trust and appreciated Dogra Law College for conducting National Level Moot Court Competition in Jammu. He emphasized that strong advocacy must be supported by sound legal research, critical thinking, and ethical conduct, all of which are essential for developing competent and socially responsible legal professionals. He appreciated the efforts undertaken by Dogra Law College to provide law students with such a meaningful platform and congratulated the participating teams for their enthusiastic involvement, preparation, and commendable performance throughout the competition. He emphasized the importance of providing law students with opportunities that connect academic learning with the practical demands of the legal profession. Justice Rajesh Sekhri, Judge, High Court of (J&K) and Ladakh, appreciated the initiative of Dogra Law College in organizing the National Moot Court Competition and observed that such a competition would set a benchmark for other law colleges. He expressed confidence that Dogra Law College would emerge as one of the leading national platforms for mooting. |
