Guru Ravi Dass Sabhas observe Parinirvan Divas of Manyavar Kanshi Ram Sahib in Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 9: Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort Jammu in collaboration with All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha (Regd) Krishna Nagar Jammu observed Parinirvan Divas of Manyavar Kanshi Ram Sahib.
While speaking on this occasion Sham Lal Basson Gen Secy GRDS Bahu Fort Jammu said that Kanshi Ram Sahib was born to Hari Singh and Bishan Kour on 15th March 1934 at village Khawaspur of district Ropar (Roopnagar) in Punjab. He was admitted in primary school at village Malikpur. He faced much caste discrimination in this school. He passed 5th class in 1945 and was admitted in Islamic Madarsa in Ropar where there was no caste discrimination. He passed B SC from Punjab University. Sahib Kanshi Ram Ji joined service as Asstt Scientist in Central Institute of military explosive in Pune.
Basson further expressed that holidays on the eve of Buddha Jyanti and Ambedkar Jyanti were cancelled in DRDO. Manyavar Dina Bana employee of this Institute lodged protest in this regard and was suspended. Sahib Kanshi Ram ji came to know this episode and met with Dina Bana and D K Khaparde. D K Khaparde provided a book named 'Annihilation of caste' to Kanshi Ram Ji. Kanshi Ram Sahib studied this book and was greatly inspired. Sahib Kanshi Ram ji made struggle and got restored holidays and Dina Bana ji was reinstated. In the same year in 1964, Kanshi Ram Ji resigned from the service and started struggle for social change and awakening of bahujans.
Er R C Bhasin-president All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, krishna Nagar Jammu addressed the gathering and said that Sahib Kanshi Ram ji wrote letter to his mother showing following pledges:-
I will never return to home
I will not marry
I will never build/own personal property.
I will not participate in social celebration/Rituals.
I will not seek standard job or carrier.
I will not rest until Ambedkar's dream is achieved.
While speaking on this occasion F C Satia and Raj Kumar Chalotra said that Kanshi Ram Ji formed BAMSEF on 6th Dec 1978 and later on 6th Dec 1981 formed another social organisation known as Dalit Shoshit Samaj Sangarsh Samiti-DSSSS-4 or DS-4. They further told the gathering that Kanshi Ram Saheb founded political party known as Bahujan Samaj Party and changed the direction of politics with his broad vision and hardwork.
M R Bangotra Retd. Chief Education Officer shared his personal experiences with Manyavar Kanshi Ram Sahib. He has closely seen Sahib Kanshi Ram Ji. He said that Kanshi Ram Saheb represented the 11th Lok Sabha from 1996 to 1998 from Hoshirpur and was also elected as member parliament from Etawa in UP. He unsuccessfully contested from East Delhi and from Amethi in 1989. Kanshi Ram Sahib used to say that BSP would fight first election to lose, next to get noticed and third election to win.
