Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 9: Although the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally bid farewell to its outgoing General Secretary (Organisation), Ashok Koul, the party is yet to announce his successor. The name of the new General Secretary (Organisation) will be finalised during the forthcoming Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal Baithak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The high-level meeting is scheduled to take place in the first week of November in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It is expected to be a significant organisational exercise in which several important decisions concerning the functioning and future direction of the Sangh Parivar will be deliberated upon and finalised. Sources indicate that the Indore baithak assumes added importance as it comes at a crucial juncture. The Sangh Shatabdi Varsha (Centenary Year) programmes of the RSS are set to conclude on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashami. Against this backdrop, the meeting will primarily focus on chalking out a comprehensive strategy to effectively implement the various programmes and initiatives of the Sangh Parivar in the coming years. The deliberations are also likely to review the organisational work undertaken so far and set priorities for the next phase, ensuring continuity and greater coordination among the different constituents of the Sangh Parivar. As reported earlier, on September 26, Senior Jammu and Kashmir BJP leader Ashok Kaul resigned as organisation general secretary, a post he held for nearly 12 years, citing advancing age and health concerns as reasons for stepping back from active organisational duties. The resignation comes just days after the BJP's central leadership rolled out a fresh round of appointments to the organisation general secretary posts across several states. On September 24, party president Nitin Nabin approved new organisational appointments for Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa, among others. |
