JAMMU, Oct 15: Government G.G.M. Science College, Jammu, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, organised one-to-one psychological counselling sessions for students today through its Manodarpan Psychological Counselling Cell. The sessions were conducted by eminent psychological counsellor Dr. Shabila Wani to promote mental health, emotional resilience, and overall well-being among students.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Bal Krishan, Convener of the Cell, who emphasized the importance of fostering a supportive, non-judgmental campus environment where students feel safe seeking help. Following the welcome address, Dr. ShabilaWani addressed the students, highlighting key strategies for stress management, self-care, overcoming academic pressure, and building emotional strength. Nearly 20 registered students availed themselves of confidential, individual guidance addressing personal, academic, and psychological concerns.
In light of growing concerns over student distress and directives from the Supreme Court of India regarding mental health and suicide prevention, Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta reaffirmed the institution's commitment to prioritizing student well-being as a core component of holistic education. He emphasized that early intervention and accessible professional counselling are essential for preventive care. |
