| J&K’s Sporting Future Full Of Promise | | | Sportspersons from Jammu and Kashmir are out to create history. In the recent past youngsters from the Union Territory have proven their mettle in every field by winning medals and trophies. In the recently concluded Jashan-e-Dal organized by J&K Police more than 600 young athletes participated in 20 water-sports disciplines, including kayaking, canoeing, rowing, sculling and the traditional shikara race, showcasing the region’s immense sporting potential and vibrant water-sports culture. While congratulating J&K Police on the successful completion of Jashn-e-Dal-2026 Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that sports is the celebration of human capability, perseverance and collective aspiration. He urged athletes to dream without limits and strive for excellence with dedication and sincerity and described them as inheritors of a proud legacy and ambassadors of the J&K’s sporting future. The importance of initiatives like Jashan-e-Dal extends far beyond medals and trophies. Sports instil discipline, teamwork, confidence and resilience among young people. They teach athletes to face setbacks, respect their opponents and work consistently towards their goals. At a time when the youth need constructive opportunities to channel their energy and aspirations, sporting activities are playing a transformative role in shaping responsible, confident and healthy citizens. The government, sports authorities, educational institutions and organisations such as J&K Police are working together to establish a strong sporting ecosystem. Talent identification at the grassroots level, access to qualified coaches, financial assistance for deserving athletes and transparent selection procedures have become an essential part of the sports policy. Special attention is being paid to rural and remote areas, where promising youngsters often lack access to proper training facilities. Equally important is the need to ensure that young athletes can pursue sports without compromising their education or future employment prospects. Scholarships, sports quotas, recognition and career guidance can provide the confidence they need to pursue excellence. Jashn-e-Dal-2026 has demonstrated what can be achieved when opportunities are created and young talent is encouraged. The challenge now is to sustain this momentum and convert enthusiasm into lasting achievement. Jammu and Kashmir’s sporting future is full of promise. With the right infrastructure, consistent support and an unwavering commitment to excellence, its young athletes can rise to national and international prominence, making the Union Territory proud and inspiring generations to come. |
