ACB registers FIR against officials, private persons
Illegal Mining In Udhampur, Reasi
10/16/2026 9:33:58 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against two mining officials and several private persons over alleged illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals, overcharging and manipulation of electronic challans in Udhampur and Reasi districts According to an ACB statement, FIR No. 09/2026 has been registered at ACB Police Station Udhampur against Rajeev Jammu, Assistant Mining Engineer, District Mining Officer Udhampur; Rameshwar Sangra, District Mining Officer Reasi; Swaran Singh Rathore and other private persons.
The case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended, and other applicable laws. The ACB said its investigation had revealed allegations that certain private mining operators, including stone crusher operators, were extracting minor minerals beyond permissible limits and continuing mining activities after the expiry of their lease validity.
Allegations have also surfaced that operators were charging rates higher than those notified by the government, manipulating or misusing e-challans and running stone crusher units beyond the validity of their mandatory Consent to Operate (CTO).
The agency has alleged that certain public servants facilitated these activities in connivance with private operators.
The ACB said the investigation was underway to establish the individual roles of the accused, determine the extent of alleged illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, and assess the loss, if any, caused to the government exchequer.
Searches have also been initiated at the residential and commercial premises of the accused in connection with the case. The searches and investigation are in progress, the statement said.
