Early Times Report
REASI, Oct 16: As part of its public outreach initiative aimed at strengthening police-public relations and ensuring the timely redressal of public grievances, District Police Reasi organised Thana Diwas programmes at Talwara, Nomian and Village Badder.
At Talwara, the programme was held under the chairmanship of SSP Reasi, Sh. Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, and was attended by DySP Headquarters Reasi, Tehsildar Reasi, SHO Police Station Reasi, I/C Police Post Talwara and prominent persons of the area.
During the interaction, SSP Reasi patiently listened to the grievances and concerns raised by the participants and directed the concerned officers to ensure on-the-spot redressal of issues falling within the jurisdiction of the police. He assured the participants that grievances pertaining to other departments would be taken up with the concerned authorities for their early resolution.
Similarly, Thana Diwas programmes were conducted at Village Nomian in the presence of ASP Katra, SDPO Katra, SHO Police Station Katra, local representatives and prominent persons of the area, and at Village Badder under the supervision of SDPO Mahore, where local representatives and prominent persons participated.
During these programmes, officers interacted with the public, listened to their concerns and grievances, and assured them of necessary assistance and cooperation for the timely resolution of genuine issues. The programmes provided an important platform for direct interaction between the police and the public, promoting mutual trust, transparency and effective coordination.
The participants were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse and urged to cooperate with the police in combating the drug menace. SSP Reasi appealed to the public, particularly the youth, to stay away from drugs and actively contribute towards building a drug-free society. The public was also encouraged to promptly share information regarding drug abuse and any suspicious activities with the nearest police station or police post.
Awareness was further imparted regarding cybercrime, online frauds and essential precautions to safeguard against cybercriminals. The participants were also sensitised about the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) helpline 112 and encouraged to utilise the facility for immediate police assistance during emergencies.
SSP Reasi also invited people to participate enthusiastically in various activities being organised by District Police Reasi under its Civic Action Programme during October 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Through these public outreach programmes, District Police Reasi reiterated its commitment to responsive policing, timely redressal of public grievances, strengthening police-public relations, promoting community participation and collectively working towards a drug-free society, while ensuring peace, security and harmony across the district.
