| DBU Pharmacy Students Explore Advanced Research Facilities at IISER | | | Early Times Report MANDI GOBINDGARH, Oct 24: The Faculty of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University (DBU), organised an educational and industrial visit to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali to familiarise B.Pharmacy and M.Pharmacy students with advanced scientific research, modern analytical instrumentation and emerging developments in pharmaceutical sciences. The visit was organised under the visionary guidance of Dr Zora Singh Chancellor, Dr Tajinder Kaur Pro Chancellor and Dr Harsh Sadawarti Vice Chancellor by the Placebo Club in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university. The programme aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications by exposing students to contemporary research methodologies and scientific innovations. During the visit, students were introduced to the research environment and the Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) at IISER Mohali. They gained insights into the applications of advanced analytical techniques, including Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), which play an important role in molecular analysis, material characterisation, pharmaceutical research and drug development. The programme also highlighted the growing significance of pharmaceutical nanotechnology, modern drug design and research and development (R&D) in the discovery of new medicines and the development of innovative drug delivery systems. The exposure helped students appreciate the role of advanced scientific instruments and interdisciplinary research in addressing contemporary challenges in pharmaceutical sciences. The visit further emphasised the importance of scientific accuracy, laboratory safety, data interpretation and responsible research practices. It encouraged students to explore opportunities in higher education, research projects and professional careers in pharmaceutical research and development. The initiative was coordinated by Mr. Rahul Sharma and Mr. Shubham Garg. The university expressed its gratitude to Dr. Puja Gulati, Principal, Faculty of Pharmacy, for her constant support, encouragement and guidance. The organisers also acknowledged the cooperation of the IIC, IQAC, faculty members and students in making the educational initiative meaningful. The visit was a valuable academic experience, intended to strengthen students' scientific understanding, promote innovation and inspire them to pursue advanced learning and research in the evolving field of pharmaceutical sciences. |
