| General Category People Front Demands 50% Reservation Cap, Raises Concerns Over Inflation | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 24: In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, the members of General Category People Front deliberated upon the socio economic and political problems being faced by the people. Addressing the meeting Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Front said on 13th Oct. 2026, Hon'ble High court of Karnathaka in its verdict nullified the increased reservation quota of SC from 15% to 17% and ST quota from 3% to 7% on the breach of 50% limit of reservation. Sanson appealed to the Govt. of JK UT to bring down the existing reservation to 50%. Hon'ble High Court of MP also nullify the increased reservation from 17% to 27% and Supreme court upholds HC denying reservation benefit to Hindu converts to Islam. He demanded that 50% reservation limit should not be breached and the families that have already achieved significant economic stability, social advancement and representation in senior position should not continue receiving reservation benefits indefinitely. The benefit be reached the most disadvantaged people within eligibility communities. He condemned prejudice, bias, step motherly treatment and unabated discrimination with General Category people in socio economic and political spheres. Governments have been promoting and supporting casteism through reservation. Front General Secretary S.N. Sharma demanded total abolition of reservation and expansion of all Govt. Welfare schemes provided on the basis of caste and class to General category and ensure the complete implementation of fundamental rights of equality, justice, liberty and dignity and equal opportunities to all citizens by removing the restrictions imposed on their application. He said that it was unfortunate that BJP as political party ignored its core voters as it has committed a mistake of taking General Category people for granted. People are getting fed up with the anti Swarn policies of the party and its indifferent behaviour towards middle class. Mr. Sharma alleged misuse of stringent SC/ST atrocities act. Some elites of SC/ST have been misusing the atrocities act and trying to humiliate and harass their opponents to settle their personal grudge. SC/ST atrocities Act be made National Atrocities Act to cover all citizens. Jagdish Dogra, Vice Chairman of the Front said that people from different social classes have differential access to law; Govt. schemes and policies which is against the principle of justice. Govt. should end differentiate between people on the basis of their background and ethnic origin. V.K Sharma, Bhushan Pargal expressed deep concerns over spike in prices of essential commodities that has caused a lot of headache to the poor and middle class families and pointed fingers towards the economic policies of the government. Govt. has completely failed in checking price rise led to perpetuation of Tax terrorism in the country. Soaring prices has sheltered the budget of a common household; inflation rate had peaked all time high and broken all records. |
