RAMBAN, Oct 24: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Vikas Kundal, today undertook his maiden visit to District Ramban and reviewed the overall developmental scenario, progress of ongoing infrastructure projects and implementation of various government schemes across key sectors.
He chaired a comprehensive review meeting with district officers and directed all concerned departments and executing agencies to expedite developmental works, adhere to prescribed timelines and maintain the highest standards of quality and accountability.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, Additional SP Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, PO ICDS, ACR, SDMs, ACD, CPO and other district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner presented a detailed overview of the district's developmental progress through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighting physical and financial achievements, the status of major infrastructure projects, implementation of welfare schemes and issues requiring inter-departmental coordination.
The Divisional Commissioner reviewed the progress of the four-laning project of National Highway-44, particularly the construction of tunnels and viaducts along the Ramban-Banihal stretch. Taking stock of the physical progress of key components, he underscored the strategic importance of NH-44 in ensuring seamless connectivity and directed the concerned executing agencies and officers of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to accelerate the pace of work and complete all ongoing works within the stipulated timelines.
He also undertook a comprehensive review of the functioning and progress of various departments, including Public Works (Roads and Buildings), PMGSY, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Jal Shakti, Power Development, Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Industries and Commerce, Labour and other concerned sectors.
Reviewing the District Capex Plan for 2026-27, the Divisional Commissioner directed all departments to achieve 100 per cent of their physical and financial targets within the stipulated period. He assessed the bottlenecks affecting implementation and issued necessary directions for their prompt resolution, stressing improved inter-departmental coordination, accountability, efficient utilisation of resources and regular monitoring of progress.
He also reviewed road connectivity projects being executed under the PWD and PMGSY schemes, aimed at strengthening the road network and connecting unconnected habitations. The concerned officers were directed to expedite execution, resolve pending issues related to clearances and other impediments, and ensure the timely completion of public infrastructure projects.
During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner inspected key ongoing developmental projects, including the Multi-Storey Bus Stand Ramban, being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 22.43 crore. He took stock of the progress of construction and stressed the importance of completing the project within the prescribed timeline while maintaining quality standards.
He also inspected the construction of the 300-metre-span bridge over the River Chenab, which will connect Ramban town with Maitra. The bridge, being executed by the Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings) at an allotted cost of Rs 39.90 crore, is of strategic importance for improving connectivity towards Gool Sub-Division and adjoining areas.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers and executing agencies to maintain close supervision of the ongoing works, address implementation-related challenges promptly and ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated timelines.
