JAMMU, Aug 4: A naib-tehsildar today landed in VO (vigilance organisation) net at Kulwanta in Ramnagar, Udhampur, while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant. He was caught red-handed by the VO sleuths while accepting the bribe money, police sources alleged. Sources said on the basis of a complaint lodged by Kunj Lal, son of Santu of Lehar, Ramnagar, a case under section 5(2) of P C Act was registered at VOJ police station. A trap team, led by DSP Kartar Singh, was constituted under the supervision of SSP of UDR wing of VOJ. Accordingly, naib-tehsildar Virender Kumar of ward No 8, Phalla, Ramnagar, was caught red handed at Ramnagar in the presence of independent witnesses while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant. The bribe money was allegedly demanded by the accused for the implementation of an order passed by the deputy commissioner, Udhampur, in a land dispute case between the complainant and his sister Perma. Sources said the accused was arrested for further legal action against him. |
