Traditional Machail Yatra arrives in Kishtwar amid traditional religious gaiety

Kishtwar, Aug 18: A traditional pilgrimage to the temple of a Hindu deity in Machail area of Kishtwar, reached today at Kishtwar amid traditional religious fervor. Meanwhile approximately 78187 devotees have so far offered their obeisance (Darshan) since the yatra was officially thrown open for the pilgrims till today.
According to sources, over 10000 devotees participated in annual Chari Yatra of Matta Chandi at Kishtwar, which arrived from Bhaderwah today evening itself under tight security cover. The Holy mace is welcomed enroute by thousands of devotees in various villages who also offered free Langars to the devotees participating in Yatra.
Reports said, "The traditional holy mace yatra started from Chinote Bhaderwah and arrived at Kishtwar at around 5.30PM and witnessed an overwhelming response from the devotees in Kishtwar.
The devotees were seen waiting on either side of road at ever busy Shaheedi Road Kishtwar which remained jam-packed of people to welcome the Chari Mubark and seeking blessing of Mata Chandi.
On its arrival the Chari (holy mace) was welcomed by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan and SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir along with thousands of people from Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas. Thereafter it was taken to Gohri Shankar Mandir Sarkoot Kishtwar, where it was scheduled to be kept for the Darshan over night before leaving for Gulabgard tomorrow morning.
As many as 30000 people from different parts of the state reach District headquarter Kishtwar for onwards journey to Machail for seeking the blessings of Matta Chandi.
Various school building, parks and temples were thrown open for the devotees for night stay; beside this the locals also adjusted the visiting pilgrims in their own house as a good will gesture. Meanwhile free langers were also arranged by the locals for the pilgrims at many places.

DIG Doda-Kishtwar Range Nisar Ahmed, SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir, ASP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom were seen personally supervising the security and other arrangements for Yatries at Kishtwar.
Dy SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed, Dy. SP Operation Irshad Ahanger had been entrusted the security responsibility of the yatra route while SDPO Atholi Pardeep Sen along with Dy SP DAR Manoj Kumar are camping at Padder to supervise Yatra arrangements.
Meanwhile the heavy rush of pilgrims has also been witnessed at Machail temple. "There is heavy inflow of pilgrims at Machail temple and as many as 30000 people today visited the Kishtwar itself," confirmed an official from Padder.
Here it needs to mention that as per the tradition, after night halt at Ghori Shankar Mandir Sarkoot Kishtwar, the Chari will leave for Padder next day and shall pass Gulabgarh, Matta Jawala Temple, Massu, Chasoti situated enroute to holy abode Machail where it will reach on August 22.
