Jammu, Mar 2: On the eve of Jammu and Kashmir’s first budget session after
a gap of seven years, the ruling National Conference (NC) on Sunday reached out to its “disgruntled” coalition partner, the Congress, seeking its support to ensure smooth proceedings in the House.
The outreach came during a joint meeting of coalition partners, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Jammu. This was the first formal meeting of all coalition parties since the formation of the NC-led government on October 16, 2024.

Jammu, Mar 2: National Conference MLA Ajaz Jan, who attended the joint meeting of legislators ahead of Budget Session here on Sunday, said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assured the participants that he is hopeful about J&K’s statehood being restored by the end of this year.
Jan while talking to the reporters here said, “The CM also assured that he is hopeful that the statehood would be restored by the end of this year.”
He said that the Chief Minister told the legislators that they can discuss the issues concerning their constituencies. “The budget will be tabled tomorrow. The cabinet will meet before the budget is presented,” he added.
