Search Committee fails to search a Chairman for JKBOSE | MP backing Goswami for top job | | K Koushal JAMMU, Mar 14: Failure of a high level search committee to zero in on a name for the post of Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education is being attributed by the insiders to the intention of absorbing the incumbent Secretary for the top job. Sources said that the 5 members time bound search committee led by Principal Secretary Home Suresh Kumar including members Secretary School Education Hirdesh Kumar, Secretary Higher Education Department Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Ex-chairman Dr Sheikh Bashir Ahmed was constituted in the month of October 2013 with a mandate to find a suitable chairman within one month which was, however, deferred due to imposition of Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Sources privy in School Education Department pleading anonymity, however, said that around nine months back, according to an order of Higher Education Department Chairman, Secretary of JKBOSE along with some other officials were ordered to revert to their parent department but that time Renu Goswami managed her posting in JKBOSE owing to her influence and consequent upon this she sought the patronage of a Member Parliament, who according to sources is sponsoring Goswami for the post of Chairman. Earlier, the search committee made a criterion that the candidate for the post of Chairman should be less than 54 years in age but later it was revised and age limit for candidate was increased to 56 year. "Renu Goswami's appointment as Chairman will be a violation of the criterion fixed for the same as her age is above 56," reliable sources disclosed. Principal Secretary Home, Suresh Kumar who is also chairman of the search committee when contacted by Early Times said, "the process is deferred owing to Model Code of Conduct (MCC). |
