AIKS holds core-group meet | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 14: To discuss the present political scenario of the state and to deliberate on the forthcoming celebration of International Mother Tongue Day falling on twenty-first of February, All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) held a core-group meeting which was presided over by Dr. Ramesh Raina. The meeting was informed that a Special number of Vaakh, a Kashmiri Journal of AIKS, will be released by Professor Sudhir Sopori, Vice Chancellor, Jawahar Lal Nehru University. The meeting urged the displaced Kashmiri Pandits to show their presence positively on the occasion and be part of the struggle of the Cultural and lingual survival. Language plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the cultural ethos, said the speakers. They opined that since Kashmiri Pandits are dispersed throughout the globe, mother tongue will serve as a binding string. It is not the time to go on negative tracks and be discouraged but the time demands sustained struggle to infuse the importance of preserving and flourishing the mother tongue in the offspring so that the roots get strengthened. The meeting said that though KPs excelled, existentially, in various departments of life even under hostile conditions but there are some loopholes regarding the unabated maintenance of 5000 years old rich culture and for this the connect with our land of birth and enriching the mother tongue is essentially important. |
