| Dabang DC recovering 295 kanal encroached state Land in Humhama,Gogoo | | I have record of not bowing down under political, official pressure : DC Budgam | | Javaid Naikoo

Srinagar, Feb 14 : The infamous Humhama, Gogoo land Scam outside Srinagar airport which is evading inquiry since 2011 following involvement of some politicians and Top brass officials of the state gained momentum after newly placed Deputy commissioner started demolishing drive in the area.
A day after Deputy Commissioner Budgam known as Dabang official among his colleagues because of his honesty and dedication, Mir Altaf Ahmad was praised in the High Court here during a hearing for launching demolishing drive against encroachers in the infamous Humhama, Gogoo land Scam outside Srinagar airport falling under District Budgam. Mir while assuring Early Times to continue his demolishing drive said that he has a record of not bowing down any political or official pressure. "After starting demolishing drive last week I have given encroachers one weeks time to produce documents if anybody feels that land under his/her occupation is not state land. So far nobody has tried to influence me. I will recover every single inch of land which has been encroached," said Mir.
Mir during his posting as a revenue official in Pahalgam recovered more than 135 kanals of state land encroached by `black sheep' and is committed to perform his duty in the same manner in Budgam as well.Pertinently while hearing a Public Interest Litigation recently, a division bench of Justices Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Janak Raj Kotwal
issued notices to Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag, Pulwama, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kupwara, and Shopian for falling to recover agricultural land conversion.
Only Deputy commissioner Budgam was praised for launching anti encroachment drive and retrieving land from encroachers.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir stated that on Dec 11, he had visited Gogo land
Budgam alongwith Deputy Commissioner Budgam and observed that encroachment from 4 kanals of kahcharie land at Gogo land under Khasra no 285, 286(old) was removed by the field agency before October 2014 and present Deputy Commissioner Budgam while continuing with the anti-encroachment drive removed encroachment of land measuring 2 kanals at Humhama area.
A major scam of illegal encroachment of state land exposed by Early Times in July 18, 2014 with details of evading inquiry since 2011 due to political and official influence.
The document details reveal that in Humhama area 234 kanals and 1 marlas of Kahcharai land and 36 kanals 1 marlas of state land and in nearby Gogoo area 25 kanals 13 marlas of Kahcharai land have been encroached illegally over the years by hundreds of blue eyed people including noted bureaucrats and government officials. A document with signature and sign of Naib Tehsildar Budgam dated 17/04/2011 reveals names of hundreds of encroachers including top government officials who have encroached land under Khasra numbers 1026,1026/2. The report further mentions that due to the construction of residential houses exact figures about the state land encroached could not be summed up. According to letter number 161-63 dated 14/7/2011Tehsildar Budgam in response to communication of then Deputy Commissioner Budgam under letter number DCB/SQ/11/279-85 dated 15/6/2011 writes that 'Assamie wise' notices have been issued to the encroachers of Humhama Friends enclave, Gowsia Colony, Gogoo, Jawahir Housing colony and other such laces after field staff submitted its report of total encroachment of land at Humhama and Gagoo and encroachers were asked to produce
document if any of the land on which they have constructed complexes and a six member team including concerned Patwaris were directed to complete the process of documentation.
Acting on the field report about the land encroachment a Humhama and Gogoo then Assistant commissioner revenue Budgam in his letter number DCB/SQ//11/279-85 dated 15/06/2011 reminded Tehsildar Budgam that as per the minutes of meeting held with then revenue Minister and divisional commissioner Kashmir orders were passed to take immediate action against land encroachers at an earliest but so far hundreds of kanals of state land still under encroachment. |
