People keenly waiting for PDP-BJP alliance to hold reins of J&K government | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 14: If the PDP-BJP coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir be formed before the end of next week? Is the question which has become the talk of the winter capital and is being discussed at every nook and corner in public and political circles in Jammu and Kashmir. Interest in the formation of the Government seems to be much enthusiastic and greater than what it was in noticed in 2002 and in 2008 when the Assembly elections had thrown up a hung House in state assembly. As per some political analysts, the greater interest is only due to the higher difference of ideologies and outlook of alliance partner viz. PDP and the BJP that are strenuously set to forge an alliance for the formation of the Government in the state. Earlier in 2008 the Congress and the National Conference forged an alliance for formation of the Government which was not as difficult task as it is going to be for the PDP and the BJP. The Congress and the NC have either supported each other or formed a coalition Government in the past too. In 2002 the Congress had no hesitation in joining hands with the PDP and entered into another alliance in the state. Although keeping their cards very closed, the PDP and the BJP have made a beginning in the process when the two forged an alliance for contesting four Rajya Sabha seats and bagged three seats out of four with PDP claiming two seats while BJP has to satisfy with one as Congress-NC alliance candidate and seasoned politician Ghulam Nabi Azad snatched one seat. And there is likelihood of repetition of this venture during the forthcoming Legislative Council (Upper House) election for 11 seats being scheduled on March 2. |
