NZIEA stages protest against LIC management | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 23: Work remained paralyzed in the office LIC of Jammu and Kashmir as Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association (NZIEA) stated protest demonstrations against LIC management for their genuine demands of settlement of wage revision of employees due since August 1, 2012. According to press release, this strike was observed all over India by life insurance employees working in LIC of India as per the call of All India Insurance Employees' Association. In Jammu region, it was led by Com. Pawan Gupta -Divisional Secretary and Com. Romesh Chand joint secretary of NZIEA Srinagar Division. Speaking on the occasion, Com. Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secretary lambasted on the management of LIC of India to press for the genuine demands of the employees. He said that the life insurance employees are deeply disappointed over the attitude of the LIC management during the discussions held on Feb 12, 2015 at Central Office Mumbai wherein the management had no fresh offers to make on the wage revision and the offer remained stood at 12.5%. He made it clear that the priority for the organization is now wage revision as considerable delay has already taken place and further delay is making the employees more restive. He reiterated the argument that the wage in LIC must be determined on the basis of strength of the institution and it's paying capacity. Pointing out to the enormous productivity of the employees and their contribution to the progress and prosperity of the institution, he said that it is unjust tn delay the settlement of the legitimate demand for satisfactory wage rise, He also pointed out that the demand for one more option for pension is the residual issue of the last wage settlement and even after the passage of five years, we see very little progress on this issue. He criticized the effort of the management to link the issue of wage revision with the Management issues like Transfer and Mobility policy and Biometrics and said that the discussion should be focused on the issue of wage rise, pension option and recruitment and linking these issues with other management issues will never be accepted. Among others who were present during the protest included Neelarn Sharma, Nanak Chand and others. |
