Lal Singh's cabinet berth may run into rough weather | He is a habitual land grabber, alleges Kathua resident | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 23: The MLA elect and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Chaudary Lal Singh's efforts to get a berth in new cabinet can run into "rough weather" as he is again in the news for wrong reasons. Sharat Cahandra Nagra and others have accused him (Singh) of grabbing their five kanal of land at Kathua and violating the court orders. Sharat Cahandra Nagra and others have accused Singh and his brother of grabbing their five kanal land under Khasra No 839/729 at Kathua . The petitioner has alleged that Chaudary Lal Singh, his brother Bablu and others have grabbed their land under Khasra No 839/729 and have violated the court order dated January 6, 2014. "Singh and others have raised a boundary wall and erected a gate with the help of their goons. These people are habitual of grabbing land and administration fails to take any action against them as they are influential people," the petitioner has prayed. The court has directed incharge concerned Police Station Kathua to implement the order passed by the court on January 6,2014 and submit the compliance report on or before March 25 2015 which has been fixed as next date of hearing. Sources told Early Times that land grabbing allegation against Singh has surfaced at a critical juncture and it can hamper his chance of getting inducted into the new cabinet. Pertinently, Lal Singh, who has won two Parliamentary elections in the past on Congress ticket, deserted the party last year after he was denied mandate by the party. Singh somehow managed to get entry into BJP and won the recent assembly polls. Sources said that he had even staked his claim for Deputy Chief Minister's post citing his seniority as one of the reasons. "However, his request was turned down by the BJP high command and he was told in clear terms that there are other eligible candidates for the post," they added. Singh, according to the party insiders, is trying his best to bag a ministry for himself as BJP and PDP are all set to form the next coalition government in the state. "Land grabbing accusation can turn tables on him as BJP high command wants people with clean image to join the new cabinet," insiders added. |
