Symposium on Truth & Non-Violence held | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 23: Govt Higher Education Department along with Gandhi Global Family (J&K) initiated "Symposium on Truth & Non Violence" in all the public colleges of the State. Today the inaugural session was hosted by Govt College for Women Parade Jammu where over hundreds of college students gathered and over dozen students debated on Truth & Non-Violence. After the welcome address, Padmashri S P Varma, President GGF J&K, introduced the objectives of these symposium. He also informed the gathering that such symposium will help a great way to explore issues of global concern, will help younger generation to arrive at peaceful solutions, which are best suited for humanity. He added that, "the efforts and energy of young people are crucial to the GGF's efforts to bring about change and we count on youth to come up with friendly solutions to diffuse social tensions at global level." Principal GCW Parade Prof Hemel Aggarwal welcomed the guests and urged the students to "work for the goal of global peace and friendly relationships by adopting the twin principles of Mahatma Gandhi. According to her, by following Truth and Non-Violence, we encourage our local students to become global citizens of the world. At the end, award ceremony was concluded by honouring winning candidates; Mehak, Sonia Giri and Aditi Dubey who achieved the top three positions in the symposium. Principal was also honoured with Indo-UN pin for her contributions towards the society following the footsteps of Father of Nation. |
