Workshop on "Policing: Reaching out to Minorities" held | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 23: One day workshop cum seminar on the theme "Policing: Reaching out to Minorities" sponsored by PHQ J&K was organised at Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur today. In this workshop, officers of the rank of SSP & DySP participated. The main objective of the workshop was to sensitize the Police which are an enforcing agency and directly dealing with the subject. Prominent guest speaker was Prof. Mohammed Tajuddin, Post Graduate Department of Political Science, University of Jammu. He discussed various issues regarding minorities and also termed them as groups marginalized in the society and is absolutely no dominant. Dr. Mahesh Kaul while addressing the participants stated that Policing in the state have immense challenges keeping in view the ethno- religious cleansing and stress for the need to sensitize the belt force. He was of the opinion that the minorities and the Police have to work together to neutralize the problems. Dr. Vikram Gulati during his deliberation regarding policing the ethnical minorities in India quoted some examples regarding mal-treatment meted out to minorities and gave some idea as to how the target can be achieved. |
