SIC's directs Tehsildar Akhnoor to allow inspection of revenue record | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 1 : The State Information Commission (SIC) has directed Tehsildar Akhnoor to allow inspection of revenue record under J&K Right to Information Act (RTI) by an information seeker who alleged before the Commission that he was provided incomplete information by the Tehsildar who happens to be the Public Information Officer (PIO) also in Tehsil office Akhnoor. Details available with Early Times reveal that one Pawan Narang S/o Late Kewal Krishan R/o Bohri, Jammu moved an application before the Public Information Officer/ Tehsildar, Akhnoor under Jammu & Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2009 wherein he sought certain information about land under Khatta Jamabandi No. 82/85 in Village Gurah Brahmna with regard to its owners and cultivators measuring 22 kanals 14 marlas. The Public Information Officer (PIO) /Tehsildar, Akhnoor vide office letter no's. OQ/878, 880, 881 dated 10-02-2015, OQ/887 dated 11-02-2015 and OQ/896, 897 dated 13-02-2015 furnished the information. The information seeker acknowledged the receipt of the same. However, the information seeker (appellant) brought it to the notice of the State Information Commission (SIC) that information provided to him was incomplete, incorrect and misleading . The PIO while appearing before the SIC on Feb 20th 2015 readily agreed to allow the appellant a facility to access the record in order to ascertain the correctness of the information already provided to him. " In view of the aforesaid facts, the Public Information Officer/ Tehsildar, Akhnoor is hereby directed to allow the appellant an opportunity to inspect the record in his office on a working day during office hours and provide certified copies of the relevant documents free of cost if any, requested by the information seeker. The parties are at liberty to settle the date and time for inspection of record which may be convenient to them. The PIO/Tehsildar, Akhnoor is warned to remain careful in future and act with circumspection and is directed to dispose of the RTI applications if any pending before him within the statutory period as prescribed in the Jammu & Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2009 The appeal is accordingly disposed off" reads the SIC order. |
