Mufti Sayeed plays stroke of balance to extreme perfection in Govt formation | All Kashmir regions get share in ministries, Shias also pleased | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, March 1: Quite contrary to the past Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given fair representation to the Srinagar district by inducting three legislators from the district in the council of ministers headed by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. PDP legislators Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Aasiya Naqash representing Amira Kadal, Sonwar and Hazratbal constituencies have been included in the council of ministers. Only two legislators of PDP Moulvi Abid Hussain Ansari and Noor Mohammad Sheikh representing Zadibal and Batmaloo constituencies have not made it to Mufti led coalition government. Apparently Abid was dropped since his nephew Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari was inducted as a minister in the PDP-BJP government in the state. In Imran's nomination to the council of ministers Mufti has pleased the Shia community not only of Kashmir but also those belonging to the community and living in the Jammu and Ladakh regions. National Conference has always been accusing PDP of being pro-rural and anti-Srinagar. The NC leaders would take potshots at PDP saying that Mufti virtually ignored the summer capital of state when it comes to the development. However, today's development may force the NC leaders to keep mum for some time when it comes to issuing statements with PDP and its agenda for development in Srinagar. Central Kashmir's Budgam district also got a good share of the council of ministers since the two legislators of PDP from this district also made it to the top position. MLA Charar-I-Sharief Ghulam Nabi Lone (Hanjura) and MLA Chadoora Javed Mustafa Mir were sworn in as ministers in the PDP-BJP government. From the South Kashmir besides the chief minister, three more legislators have made it to the council of ministers. Legislators Abdul Rehman Bhat (Veeri), Dr. Haseeb Drabu and Abdul Majid Paddar representing Bijbehara, Rajpora and Noorabad assembly segments were given a berth in the PDP-BJP coalition government. From the North Kashmir four legislators have been able to make it to the council of minister. Legislators Advocate Abdul Haq Khan, Syed Basharat Bukhari and Imran Raza Ansari representing Lolab, Sangrama and Pattan assembly constituencies of North Kashmir have been included in the council of ministers. MLC Naeem Akhtar who comes from the Bandipora district of North Kashmir has also made it to the government of PDP and BJP. Mufti also pleased the people of the Darhal constituency in the Rajouri district by inducting MLA Darhal, Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali in the council of ministers. The PDP Patron has given representation to the regions where from his members emerged victorious during the assembly elections held in November and December last year. |
