Police "play" with security of holy Katra town | Shifts Nomain check post to a distance of about 14 km at Moori | | Shiv Dev Thakur
KATRA, Mar 1: Reasi police seem to be performing experiments with the overall security scenario in the holy Katra town as they have shifted a check post from the main road to another place. This is like playing with the security of tourists and other people visiting the town. Reliable sources told Early Times that Reasi police are nowadays busy in performing many experiments with the security arrangements which are in place in holy town of Katra for the past many years. One such experiment they performed by shifting the existing check post at Nomain to police check post at Moori. Earlier, there were two check posts on way to Katra; one for the checking of small vehicles at Moori, about 14 km from Katra, and the other for checking of heavy passenger vehicles at Nomain, 3 kms off the main Katra road. Sources said police had decided to shift the Nomain check post to Moori. "Since there is now only one check point on way to Katra, it will take more time to check all the vehicles. When there is huge rush of vehicles, police won't be able to properly check all of them. This may benefit criminals and other anti-social elements ," the sources added. Taking benefit of the huge rush of vehicles at one checking point, anti-social elements could enter Katra town with highly objectionable items like alcohol, meat and weapons, sources said. Additional SP, Katra, Sameer Kotwal said the shifting of the check post was temporary. "We are trying to ascertain if it is possible to check crime rate by checking both the vehicles at one check post," he added. |
