Backdoor appointments issue raised in LA by Er Rashid | 'If you have any grievances, come to my chamber', Speaker tells MLAs | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 30: The issue of backdoor appointments in Legislative Assembly echoed in the House during discussion on grants today to which the Speaker Kavinder Gupta responded later before the proceedings were wrapped for the day. The Speaker said that the House has been witnessing some issues pertaining to Legislative Assembly being raised by members and it would be appropriate for members to speak to him in his chamber if they have grievances instead of raising it in the House, this being the matter of the Assembly Secretariat where he is should address them as the head of the LA Secretariat. Earlier in the day the issue of backdoor appointments was as usual vehemently raised by MLA engineer Abdul Rashid when he alleged the reports of backdoor appointments have come to fore from time to time but nothing has been done to correct the things. Asking for action and probe without delay into the matter Engineer Rashid even threatened that if that doesn't happen he would knock the doors of court. While Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who was present in the House at that time listened to him with rapt attention, in his reply later he asserted that his government is committed to remove corruption and cannot spare corrupt officers for their acts of omission and commission. What Chief Minister implied is also implicitly mentioned in the Common Minimum Programme of PDP-BJP alliance government in which it is clear government will act against corruption. As a part of assertive agenda, this alliance government is committed to transform itself into a Smart Government which will be proactive, transparent and accountable. It will be reformed and redesigned to be an enabler for business and a strategic partner for long term private sector growth. In what now seems to be a mission to provide a clean, ethical based on transparent, accountable functioning in all departments, it remains to be seen when Chief Minister takes much awaited action into the issue of backdoor appointments.
