KVK Reasi organises field day on wheat crop | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu organised the field day on wheat crop at village Kanjli of Reasi district. According to press release, KVK has laid around 1.5 hectares area at farmers' fields under wheat Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs). Around 50 farmers/farm women farmers participated in the programme. The programme was initiated by Dr. Banarsi Lal, KVK scientist with the warm welcome of the farmers. He started the programme with brief introduction of wheat crop. He stressed on the high yielding varieties of wheat. He further said that farmers should save their wheat crop from the diseases. He elaborated important diseases of wheat crop and gave their proper control measures. He said the farmers that this year due to excessive rainfall wheat crop has been badly affected and emphasised on land labeling for proper drainage of excessive water. He suggested the control measures of wheat diseases like loose smut and yellow rust of wheat. He guided the farmers for seed treatment in wheat before sowing to control the loose smut of wheat and suggested the use of propiconazole (tilt) to control the yellow rust of wheat. Dr. Banarsi elaborated the technological operations in wheat crop. He emphasised on the balance dose of fertilizers in wheat crop. He further added that proper doses of quality weedicides like metribuzin; sulfosulphorone etc. should also be used by the farmers in order to control the weeds in wheat crop. He further narrated the control measures of rodents in the wheat crop. |
