'Previous posts won't be clubbed with new ones' | | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 21: The J&K Combined Competitive Examination (preliminary), which was postponed by the Public Service Commission (PSC) on February 21, is likely to be held only after appointment of full team of PSC including chairman and members. The authorities have also decided not to club the posts already advertised with the new posts likely to be forwarded by General Administrative Department (GAD) to PSC. "A decision will be taken after May 5 and probably the preliminary examination would only be held after May 20," PSC's Secretary and Controller of Examination Shakeel-ul-Rehman told Early Times, adding that the commission would first get a chairman and members. "It is very difficult to ask colleges, time and again, for making sitting arrangements (for the aspiring candidates). So the preliminary examination will only be held after commission chairman and members will be in place," he said. When asked if the PSC would club the already advertised posts, Shakeel said, "As of now we have not received any new posts and if we will receive in future, we will not club the already advertise posts." "We are in a very advanced stage as after finalization of eligibility, roll numbers are also dispatched. So we are not going to club these posts", he said. The JKPSC had on February 21, postponed the preliminary examination, despite having completed all preparations and arrangements. Earlier the examination was postponed due to floods in the Kashmir valley in September 2014, and the PSC authorities had issued a notification on January 8, announcing to conduct exam on March 1. The preparations were as per schedule following which registration numbers of applicants were also downloaded by authorities on their website, said sources. But on February 21, another notification was issued postponing the examination till further orders. "Given the situation, which has arisen after the members nominated for PSC by previous government moved court, it is very difficult to say anything about the examination," said an official. |
