| Encroachment upon forest land evicted in Kathua, one held | | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, Apr 21: Forest officials escorted with local police today took prompt action here today and vacated forest land encroached in compartment 19/K of Dhanna Dhanore Beat, Basantpur Block of Kathua Forest Range with the arrest of accused.
According to official spokesperson, acting swiftly a team headed by Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua Vijay K Verma, SFS along with Vinay Khajuria, Range Officer, Kathua, Nitin Khajuria, BO Basantpur and other field functionaries to vacate the forest land encroached by Mashu S/o Chatter Singh R/o Kenta, Basantpur, of district Kathua falling under compartment 19/K of Dhanna Dhanore Beat, Basantpur Block of Kathua Forest Range.
"The Forest team along with Forest Protection Force and escorted by Police personnel started eviction proceedings under section 6(b),(f),sec.6(A) and 48(A) of J&K Forest Act 1987 AD and vacated the 10 kanal Forest land.
A FIR stands registered against the offender while offender has been arrested on spot and criminal proceedings has been initiated in this regard.
Here it needs to mention that two months ago the Forest team seized 11 Saw Mills in Kathua Forest Division being run illegally in violation of SRO 103 and Confiscation proceedings were initiated against the offenders.
Meanwhile Divisional Forest Officer Kathua briefed that Forest Department is very serious regarding such encroachment on forest land and shall take stringent action regarding illegal activities on forest resources. |
