Jammu, Apr 21: PDP and BJP leaders have ridiculed the statement of Congress leader,Ghulam Nabi Azad demanding stern punishment for the policemen responsible for the killing of a Narbal youth last week. Senior PDP leader,Nizam-ud-Din Bhat lauded the PDP-BJP coalition Government for having ordered a magisterial enquiry into the incident and arresting two policemen who had opened fire on the protesters in violation of SOP. He said that as a result of immediate st eps initiated by the Mufti Sayeed led Government, the trouble was defused. BJP leader,Chander Mohan posed one question to Azad. "Did the previous Congress-NC Government initiate any step against those responsible for killing 120 youth in 2010? He said no such action was t aken and it had provoked the Hurriyat Conference to file one FIR against the then Chief Minister,Omar Abdullah and a senior police officer on charge of allegedly ordering the security forces to deal firmly with the protesters. Nizam-ud-Din said that had not the Mufti Syeed led Government initiated strict action against the erring policemen and had it not ordered immediate magisterial enquiry the trouble in Kashmir would have escalated. He and Chander Mohan urged the NC and the Congress to allow the PDP-BJP coalition to work for the betterment of people of Jammu and Kashmir. That can be possible if the Congress and the NC leaders stopped inciting people to violence. |
