No decision on return without taking Pandits into confidence: BJP | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 21: BJP today reiterated that before taking any decision on return and rehabilitation the displaced Kashmiri Pandits will be taken into confidence and no decision in this regard will be thrust on the community. The Party is committed to honourable and dignified rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley. This was announced by Party general secretary (Org), Ashok Kaul while addressing a public meeting organized by BJP displaced Unit here today. Kaul said that BJP during its State Executive met at Katra few days back has made it clear that the identity of Kashmir was incomplete without Pandits and they will return Kashmir with honour and dignity in accordance to modalities fixed by them. Kaul also assured the migrants that coalition Government is determined to mitigate the sufferings and genuine problems of the displaced people. It may be recalled that BJP has set in motion the proposal for settlement of displaced Pandits hounded from Kashmiri Valley over 26 years back in a composite township in Kashmir. The Union Home Minister Raj Nath Singh has recently discussed the proposal with the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in New Delhi. The announcement of Mr Singh regarding the construction of composite township in Valley triggered protests in Kashmir with separatists and some main stream organizations opposing the same. The separatists who took to streets in protest stressed that the displaced Pandits be settled in their homes and hearths in Kashmir. However the BJP is determined to give its plan a practical shape and this was repeatedly revealed by newly nominated Party MLC Surinder Ambardar that KPs will settle modalities for their return in Kashmir. He also made it clear that Government is not bound to talk to separatists in this regard but it will take civil society of Kashmir into confidence. He said the present Government both at State and Centre is firm on the return of Pandits and it won't allow any one to create hurdles in this regard. He said no decision on return will be taken without taking the displaced Pandits into confidence and their decision will prevail. |
