Favourite preferred to daredevils who worked during militancy | DDK-RNU Srinagar Scams | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report Jammu, May 14: Yet another scam has surfaced in DDK about casuals working since 1991and recommended by higher ups and concerned Ministers for regularization. According to an official report under number 1(IR) 98-99/prog/staff dated 07/08/2007 which is in possession of Early Times, five casuals of DDK Srinagar namely Shabnam Vijpari,Saif-ud-din Lone, Zafar Andrabi, Hamid Wani and Mubashir Fazili, according to then Director RNU Srinagar, Shehzadi Simon, worked in RNU Srinagar from 1991 at a time when News staff of the Srinagar Kendra either left the valley due to militancy related threats or expressed inability to perform their duties. The report mentions that it was due to the bravery of these five people that News Room ensured smooth Telecast of news which was otherwise a difficult task. According to another recommendation letter signed by one Former Deputy Director, all the five people having sacrificed their time and effort During the peak militancy and were recommended for consolidated salary of Rupees 12,000 per month. In one more recommendation letter of the former, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad under number CM/S/h/330/2007 dated 22/06/07, Azad in his letter to then Minister for information and Broadcasting, P.R.Dasmunshi mentions that all the five persons have been working in RNU,Srinagar from last 18 years and despite the fact their regularization has also been forwarded by DDK Srinagar, therefore all these five casuals labourers deserve sympathetic consideration. However according to one senior most casual labourer working in RNU Srinagar since 1994, 'instead of regularization despite so many recommendations, one Former Deputy Director due to a personal rivalry erased his name from the recommended list and included his close associate, one female casual labourer in the list who according to him joined RNU few years back only. "Regularization seems a distant dream now, Four other people who are working with me here since 90's were given consolidated salary posts as per their due share because they deserve it, only my name was Erased from the list due to a personal rivalry by one former Deputy Director and nobody takes note of it, blue eyed people who joined RNU few years back only are enjoying perks." Said one Casual news reader. Pertinently Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour recently recommended that Casual Artists, Casual Laborers and other contract employees of Radio Kashmir, CBS and DDK Srinagar be regularized and steps to safeguard their legitimate rights be expedited and Committee castigated the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Prasar Bharti for lack of transparency in hiring and regularization of staff and stressed upon them to expedite service rules and regularization. Pertinently Early times which is carrying a series of Stories on DDK, Srinagar wrong doings today tried to contact Higher ups of Prasar Bharti, However this reporter was informed form the office of CEO Prasar Bharti that C.E.O Jawahar Sarkar is on an official tour these days, while as Director General Prasar Bharti, Akshay Rawat was in a meeting and could not be contacted. |
