Powergrid starts work to establish fibre optical based communication network for JKPDD 5/15/2015 12:16:42 AM Early Times Report Jammu, May 14: Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Central Transmission utility and a Government of India enterprise today started the work for establishment of OPGW network on 220 kV and 132 kV Transmission lines of JKPDD for data and voice under PMRP In the inaugural ceremony held today at JKPDD Grid station, Gladini , the work was formally started by S.K.Sharma, Executive Director , POWERGRID Northern Region-II, in presence of senior officers from Powergrid, JKPDD and TCIL . S.K.Sharma on this occasion reiterated the fact that Powergrid is working for a smarter and reliable grid operations in the country. He said with the completion of this project, JKPDD will have its own wide band based communication network which shall further help it to provide quality and reliable power supply to its end users. A.K.Pal, GM(AM) Powergrid, S.D.Joshi , GM(Projects) Powergrid, Sudhir Gupta SE(S&O) JKPDD, Manhar Gupta, SE(S&O) JKPDD, J.L.Kachroo, Advisor (OPGW) TCIL were among the prominent people present on this occasion. As per the scope of the work under this package, Powergrid will create a OPGW network on 220 kv and 132 kv Transmission lines of JKPDD in the state of J&K which shall enable a reliable and efficient communication network for JKPDD . Total of approximately 1500 Kms of OPGW shall be laid under this project across the state. This project is being executed by Powergrid on cost plus basis on behalf of JKPDD. Powergrid has been working with JKPDD earlier also. Powergrid has carried out works of restoration of JKPDD transmission lines several times.
